Gram Seva Trust Received Best NGO Award for the year 2008-2009 for excellence in Health Care Services from the Health and Family Welfare Department of Government of Gujarat.
Government of Gujarat has sanctioned a grant of Rs.6, 100,000.00 to Gram Seva Trust for the construction of the Pediatric ward, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and ICU.
March 7, 2009 – Women’s Day Celebration:
A documentary regarding Women’s Mo vement against alcoholism was shown as an Anti-alcohol campaign. 350 women of Self Help Groups participated and discussed about health and social issues through Role Play.
General Medical Camps at three different villages were conducted in March, serving 705 patients. 59 of these were transported to the hospital for further treatment & surgeries.
Workshops for Adolescent girls on Health and Nutrition and Handicraft Training were conducted by Dr. Harsha Shah and Dr. Sharmishtha Patil.
Sensitization training for 69 staff members:
Information was given about ICTC (Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre) for HIV. Demography of HIV and AIDS, Basics of blood donation and blood transfusion and Management of wastes in a hospital was discussed.
General Medical Camp was conducted in April. This was made possible with a generous donation from Shree Shukleshwar Mahadev Mandal. Beneficiaries – 417 patients.
Mr. Ashokbhai Patel and Mr. Mehulbhai Dave of Shaishav, an NGO in Bhavnagar, Gujarat gave a workshop "Training the Tutors" for our village tuition class teachers.
Balmela (Children’s Fair) for the children aged 6-14yrs. included various games and creative activities.
Dr. Varsha Puri of USA, a devoted pediatrician who visits Gram Seva on a regular basis gave a Training session to our Health workers on "Adolescence". She also conducted a workshop for our Adolescent girls on Health, Nutrition and Yoga.
Two eye camps were organized during these two months serving 176 patients and providing eye glasses for 101 of them. Cataract surgery was performed for 27 patients at Gram Seva Hospital
