September and October 2008 News

Month of September:
   *Two Congenital Heart Disease Children were successfully operated by Dr. Ratna Magotra in Mumbai.
   * Two Eye Camps totaling 266 patients were conducted. Cataract surgery with Intra-ocular Lens Implants were performed on 20 patients and 161 patients received prescription glasses.
   * Three patients with large Ovarian Cysts weighing 2.7kg, 3.5 kg and 5.2 kg were successfully operated and are doing well.
   * Full time pediatrician Dr. Pretie Patel has joined our Trust and this has initiated referrals from other centers especially for Neonatal care in our NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). We are in the process of upgrading our NICU.
Month of October:
   * Our Bal Awas (Children's Home) which opened in August is progressing very well & the children celebrated Navratry Festival (Homage to Godess Durga) at our Campus.

Sunday clean up & laundry with a smile	Sunday Activities in small groups according to age & potential levels

   * Surveys for incidence of TB and RTI (Reproductive Tract Infections) were conducted in two villages and many more are being planned.
   * Dr. Sashi Vani, Neonatology and Professor at Karamsad Medical College conducted a workshop at our campus regarding treatment and prevention of Neonatal and Childhood Infections.
   * Women's Arts & Crafts Exhibition was arranged at the Campus and also in the cities of Amalsad & Bilimora.
